Our Story

Dumu Balcony Cafe was founded by two friends who have always liked to eat, drink, and create amazing food and fun together.  Our plan was to provide a supportive space where young people could learn skills to help them make choices for their lives without having to change who they are. Now, partly owned by a Marri Amu woman from remote Northern Territory, Dumu has a strong focus on sharing Aboriginal culture, values and food.

Seasonal, local, native and love are our favourite ingredients. Our menu is simple yet delicious, and you will always walk away with more than just a contented belly.

Through a partnership with Thamarrurr Youth Indigenous Corporation we help develop future leaders and promote reconciliation with each coffee we serve.

Dumu, meaning 'black duck' in the local Dhudhuroa language, is a First Nations owned, for-purpose, training cafe, providing young people the opportunity to develop skills for their future.

With a focus on healthy, locally-sourced, organic and bushfood ingredients and a  respect for culture, diversity and sustainability, Dumu Balcony Cafe will  nourish your heart, body and mind.

Dumu loves you.
